Love Delhi is a must have guide to the best and most authentic experiences in the city. In fact, all the savvy inside knowledge that a stylish traveller, or resident, craves is here. The 4th edition of Love Delhi was released in January 2013 and an updated reprint was done in March 2014. The 184-page book has an introductory essay by William Dalrymple, and mini destination guides to Agra, Jaipur, Varanasi, Amritsar, Rishikesh, Srinagar, Ranthambore and Darjeeling and a Love Gurgaon chapter.
India is a luxury destination with travellers flocking to the country in unprecedented numbers and yet Delhi is considered by many as merely a transit city. ‘Delhi is a destination in and of itself’ says author Fiona Caulfield. ‘It rivals Athens for history, matches Washington for political power and now gives Paris and New York a run for their money in terms of great shopping and eating’ she adds. Fiona believes that India’s capital needed a stylish and authentic guide designed to helps the time-poor traveller discover the best experiences in the city.
The highly curated guide to Delhi is designed for a discerning individual, one who wants authenticity in style. The book, comprises eight sections including an overview of the city with 'must knows' and 'must do's' and presents the best places to eat, drink, shop, be pampered, get fit and explore. Fiona sourced love stories from in-the-know locals; including chefs, artists, designers, architects, foreign correspondents and taxi drivers. Using this guide is like being chaperoned by a good friend.
The book celebrates Indian luxury and pays homage to India’s rich craft legacy being completely hand-made in India. Love Delhi is printed on hand-made paper sourced from Jaipur and crafted with care by local fashion designers and crafts people. The hand-woven khadi covers were developed in partnership with Delhi based fashion designer, Sonam Dubal of Sanskar.
As founder of Love Travel Guides, Fiona believes that falling in love with a city is just as exciting as falling in love with a person. Your senses become more engaged and you simply feel more alive, she says. The criteria for inclusion in the guide was ‘does this place help you fall in love with this destination?’ If yes, then it was in; if no then, it was out. Simple!
